The Dream World

Inception, Vanilla sky, Total recall, The matrix, all of them movies that involve delving into the human mind to access another world. Is it possible, yes, but we just haven't mastered it yet. It is called Lucid dreaming, or lucid meaning "conscious". How do I know it is possible? because I've experienced it once, when I was in grade school. The night after that, I tried recreating the experience, but I wasn't able to experience it with such detail ever again. Two few years ago, I took interest in developing the skill of activating my consciousness while asleep, but I was still never as successful as that one time, even after purchasing a machine to try and help me develop the skill. There are three obstacles to overcome in order to be able lucid dream; one is actually reaching the dream state which is only possible during R.E.M sleep or "deep sleep". The second is actually activating your consciousness without waking yourself up. Thirdly, you have to be able to remember the dream after you actually wake up, or the whole point is useless. This is called "dream recall" I would like to add even my own personal fourth stage which would be dream control itself which I think, only a few people are able to really do which is another skill to learn after maintaining the first three steps. Lucid dreaming is a skill, and I believe with practice and help, it can be possible to master it. Like any skill, it gets easier and easier to do with practice.

When we dream, we are usually within the world of our own unconscious mind, and therefore subject to it. You still feel pain, but numbly. The definition of dreams are usually blurry or hazy, although actually being in a dream still gives the sense of reality to the dreamer, where some dreams have more defined edges than others. But think of the possibilities of mastering this skill. Your mind can remain conscious 24/7. You can do things, go places, but lets think beyond base ideas or perverted notions. How about creating your own world where you can think and do things within your own mind. If it wasn't possible, then how was I able to think my way out of my own dream? It's all divided into mastering the steps I mentioned above. I stated the first four steps which can be developed if you are devoted enough and have the right help. But imagine, like in the movie inception, if there was a way for others could consciously enter your own dream world where both of you are conscious at the same time. You would need technology for this and as to my knowledge, this doesn't exist yet.

From what I remember from my one experience that lasted a good while. I remember triggering my consciousness because I was pressing the nails of my index fingers to my thumbs. I then tried punching myself in the gut. And there was that same numb feeling as before. I realized I was dreaming because the pain seemed odd and then I envisioned the worse case scenario, being trapped in a nightmare. I realized that I was dreaming and I had the feeling, from past dream recall experiences, that I might be chased by people on the island I was on, so how do many of us wake up from dreams? by falling from somewhere tall. So I tried jumping from a high ledge, but it wasn't tall enough, so I only ended up hurting myself. As I said, you still can get hurt in dreams, but numbly. Eventually, I jumped from a much higher ledge and was able to wake myself up. I'm sure, many others have entered this unique state and I only realized the possibilities after waking up. I have never had such a long experience as that one ever again. It's because the brain starts waking you up when you become conscious and you eventually tend to forget that you were dreaming many times or what details were in the dream. Dream recall is a skill in itself. Lucid dreaming is a skill, and there are many skills you need to be able to do this repeatedly and constantly, but the possibilities are endless.
